Kateri Likoudis — Associate Photographer
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009
Kateri Likoudis has been photographing events and designing beautiful, custom albums for Studio Nine for the past two years. When not working, she enjoys beach trips in the summer and skiing in the winter.
Ever since she can remember, Kateri has been driven to create. Sculpture, painting, drawing, ceramics, cooking and gardening were among her first interests, and from the moment she learned to write, she began to document her life with words. Her first exposure to photography was in her parents’ basement darkroom, in Buffalo, NY. Upon rediscovering the darkroom many years later in high school, the camera quickly replaced the journal, and she began making photographs to tell stories. She spent her youth exploring and learning about the natural world, submersed in the abundance of fresh air of Seneca Lake wine country. Working in gardens, vineyards and wineries, she gained an appreciation for hard work and creativity. Finally, wanderlust and the urge to experience urban life and unfamiliar cultures led her to Philadelphia.
In December of 2007, Kateri graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia with a degree in photography. Since then she has had her first solo art show, an exhibit of hand painted nature and documentary photographs. She has also traveled as a journalist and photographer to Jamaica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, where she reported on the projects of International Relief Organization, Food for the Poor.
Her photographs record instances that will be pieced together to tell stories and preserve time, as well as reflect mood and emotion. Her curiosity about how people live in the world drive her to use photography as a medium that will encourage travel, exploration, learning, and sharing through honest documentation.
Kateri is available for assignment. Please call the studio for more info!
